All Grown Up

December is coming to an end soon. How are you gonna welcome 2013? Made your new year resolutions or bringing forward some from last years resolutions? :) Whatever it is may your new year be better than before. May you be given the strength and will to accomplish you resolutions. :)

I'll be starting my new year with lots of happy news. Alhamdulillah. There's wedding to look forward to and holidays.AND not forgetting the EXAMS. hahahaha.. Hopefully the result will be something to celebrate about as well.

Anyway it seems like i'll be hearing lots of wedding bells for next year and the year after. My sisters are getting married. WOW! I was damn happy to hear it but at the same time i cant help feeling a little sad. My second sis already got a house and will be shifting next year. My third sis will be getting married next year and my first sis will be getting married in 2014. In syaa Allah.  And all of them will be living in their own houses with their families. The house gonna be so empty and quite. :( Sedih la pulak.

Who is gonna watch soccer with me and scream so loud that my dad had to warn us to keep our voice down? Who is gonna fight with me over what channel we should watch? Who will i argue with? Who will take my side when i want something from the parents? Who is gonna bake me cakes when i have my crazy cravings for cakes? Whose bags and dresses will i borrow now?  I'm so gonna miss my sisters.

It feels like just yesterday we were running around in our diapers. It feels like just yesterday we all walk together to school. It feels like just yesterday we blast the radio and dance to Lemon Tree and Macarena. It feels like just yesterday we would all seat in the same room on the same bed and giggle and laugh over silly gossips and stories. It seems like just yesterday one of them would fetch me from school. It seems like just yesterday we shout and scream and slam the doors at each others face. It seems like just yesterday we got scolding from Papa. It seems like just yesterday we use the water colour paints to paint our faces. It seems like just yesterday we would hide behind the glass cabinet and scare the hell out of who ever that decide to walk pass the cabinet in order to go to the toilet. It seems like yesterday we'll pull out pranks after pranks on each other. It seems like yesterday that we'll take countless neoprints.

And now...we are all grown up. Married with kids. Going to be married. Soon all will be living our own lives. Can't help but to feel a little sad here. My sisters. Never would i asked for a better siblings. We had our fair share of cat fights and punches. But no matter what i love them with my whole heart.

To look on the bright side now i have three brothers!!!! Yeah!!! From no big brothers now i have three! Wow!

"Ya Allah...Semoga rumahtangga yang telah dibena dan yang akan mereka bena dirahmatimu selalu dan kekal kan la jodoh mereka hingga ke syurga mu Ya Allah. Semoga mereka menjadi keluarga yang sakina, mawaddah dan rahmah. Semoga anak-anak mereka menjadi insan-insan yang soleh dan soleha, yang bermanfaat didunia dan diakhirat. Amin."

To my dearest sisters.....congratulations and i'm so happy for you guys. <3

Looking Back

Morning!! Rise and Shine! :) Insomnia has chosen the most perfect time to kick in. Exam period. :/ and that explains why i'm still awake at this hour. You know you can't digest anymore notes when you start to read everything wrongly and you have to read twice or trice just to understand a simple statement.

So decided to toss away the notes a few hours back and i started to pick up the novel that i just bought that-i-was-not-supposed-to-open-until-after-exams-one and read. It's a book by Hlovate entitled Tunas. It's quite an old book actually. I've read it before (can't remember whose book). I bought it again for i find the story interesting and something i know i will read over and over again, and still smile, laugh and cry with the story.

It somehow mirrors my secondary school journey. Bitter, sweet, sour, tasteless journey towards adulthood. The care free days my friends and i had together. Where memories are made. The naughty moments we shared. Looking back down that road that we walked sometimes just make me smile and sometimes i ask myself why we did what we did. We are known for the things that we did. Just like the characters in Tunas. We enjoyed our school days our way.

Making life miserable for certain teachers until they said we are the worst express class they have ever thought. Some said we are worst than the technical stream students, those are typical stereotyping teachers mindset. Thinking that all express students are well behave and will go 'yes teacher' at their every word. Well what can i say, we chose to be different.

I think if the parade square could talk the tiles would have say " Da takde muke org lain ke aku nak tenggok. Balik-balik muke korang ni!" :) We seems to enjoy sun tanning during lessons so much or lets just say we prefer to have classes outside of class. Learning from a window view can be very interesting you know. If you know what i mean. hahahahaha...

Science lesson is the best. Practical lessons that is. Especially Chemistry lessons. Lain yang Cikgu suro buat lain yang kite buat. Nasib tak meletup lap tu. We still did the experiment as instructed coz we have to record it but at the same time our mind works in creative ways and we tried to be Einstein at times. And there's this time where almost the whole class was thrown out of class cause we did not complete our work. We really hold on to the word One for all and all for one. Didn't we?

Every teacher thought we couldn't make it through secondary school. But there was one who saw the light in us. He believe in us. And we live through that believe. He's our pillar and our strength. When the whole teacher unit brings us down, he's there to stay. We can never thank him enough. Mr Nair you are the best form teacher one could possible have. Thank you for the support and for everything.

Reading Tunas, about Addin and her friends make me miss my bitchalization much. And i stop reading when Addin and her classmates when camping together. The singing session they had during the campfire just bring back memories of OP Bazaar. We had this Bazaar in school every year (not sure if they still have it now) and the students will put up stores and sell all sorts of stuff. From food to handmade stuff to a karaoke place and not forgetting the highlights of the bazaar, performance by our very talented students indeed.

There was this year where the boys did a performance. They did  a song by Hoobastank  the all famous "The Reason" at that time as well as a song by Maroon 5. And that's how i get hooked to Maroon 5 too.
At that point of time i told myself, just like what Addin from the book Tunas said to herself

"I'm gonna miss this moments later. Big time!!"

And well i was right. I am missing this moments big time!!! I miss my friends. A reunion sounds great don't you think. ;) We (a few of us) ever tried to do a reunion once but it failed halfway. It's ok...we shall try to have one reunion soon. Or someone can get married and than we can all meet up there and kpo2. Hahahahahahahaha.....

Ouh just incase you are wondering how we fared for our O'levels behaving like we did...well i would say we manage to survive secondary schools and proceed for a post secondary education. Alhamdulillah. Naughty. naughty jugak...tapi future tetap diutamakan. *wink2

So long and goodnight! (or should i say good morning?)

Back to Square One

It's never easy to find someone who works with full sincerity. Someone who get themselves involve in that job so that they can serve the community and help people. Mostly they did what they have to do without wanting to go the extra mile simply because they are not paid to do so.

Well I'm not judging or say they are wrong. But sometimes i just wish that they are doing it because they want to and not because they have to. And even if they have to do it for there are no other jobs that they can get their hands on, the least is try to do it with half sincerity. After all not everyone can get their dream job even when they are qualified for it.

What I'm trying to say here is that if you are a teacher than teach because you want the kids to learn something new everyday and shape them to be a better person. Be there all the time when they need you even when that means you have to stay back late to explain a certain formula or things that they don't understand. Not because you will get high pay and it's a lifetime job. If you are a police officer than do your blue uniform some honor. Get going and do a proper job. Not because you wanna look good and wants respect from people when you walk around in that blue uniform. If you are a house agent than make sure you are there to help your clients. Not just to sell their house so that you can get part of the sale.

Get it?

You guys know how i was searching for a house to rent right? And i mention in my last entry about a house that we really like and hope we could get that for it was well kept and affordable too. But unfortunately when I called the agent to informed him that we agreed to rent it he said it was rented out. Crushed. My heart felt like it's been run over by a huge, huge, huge truck. To think that it's only two days since we viewed the unit and now it was rented out. Sad :'( The agent did offer us another unit but it was way above our budget. So i told him we cant afford such expensive unit for we are only students.

So we're back to square one. We went house hunting again. And we came across another unit by the same agent only the location differ and the price was again within our budget. Much lower infact. So we msg him. He said we can view the unit and it's still available. He than asked where are we from and where we are studying.  This time round it was a friend of mine who did the calling. So she told him where we are from and all. And suddenly the next msg from him was....The unit is taken after checking with the owner!!!! I was mad and furious by now for i realized he was just lying. How could a house agent not know the house was rented out? And he did the same thing as what he did to me, he offered my friend another unit at a much much higher price.

Can you imagine how irri-noying this is? I mean to think he actually thought he could cheat us and knock us off our money? How idiotic can he be? For God's sake we are students not daughters of billionaires. I was really disappointed with the house agent that we met.  Very, very, very disappointed.

So now since we are just 1 week plus away from exams, we had decided to give our heart a break and stop giving it hope that we'll move out. Let's just concentrate on exams now. We had decided to stay in the hostel till next semester. Once we are done with the exams we'll start to go house hunting again. But this time round we want to deal with an owner straight. No agents involved. Once bitten twice shy.

And since exam fever is kicking in therefore this space might just be abandoned for a few weeks ok. Need to focus on my exams. Won't settle for anything less than an A. So must work smart. :) Ouh i know i promised a star struck entry right...well the pics are still not up yet, for my photographer (a.k.a my sis) for the event just came back from Phuket. Will post once i get the pics ok.

Over and Out for now.

Cousin Getaway (Finale)

Hi everyone..since I'm done with all my assignments and presentations for this semester, Alhamdulillah, i have plenty of time at hand to be extremely patient with the wifi and wait for it to upload this entry for you guys.

So if you have no idea what this getaway is about you can read Cousins Getaway (1) & Cousins Getaway (2) first before reading this. :) Which is the last part for the cousins getaway.

Although the weather wasn't on our side, we felt that it will be such a waste if we didn't go the beach. After all we are already situated at Mai Khao Beach. So despite the gloomy sky we still made our way down because the beach is super duper beautiful. And as you can see only crazy people like us would do that when the sea current is super strong. The beach was practically empty. With a red (or was it white??) flag sticking out from the ground indicating that we must not swim or go near the waters.

Well cannot swim but being able to seat near the waters and be kick around by the wave is good enough for us. The guys however were being very controlling though. Booooo!!!!! the moment one of us get too close to the waters they'll be shouting and asking us to get out of the waters. :/ haiz...

Since tak dapat berendam in the beach. We decided to head straight for the swimming pool. Safer option for now. hehehehehe... the pool was quite huge. Ada bar lagi. Hehehehe... But sadly no pictures of the bar. Only pictures of crazy people doing crazy underwater stunts. :)

Hate when we had a boys vs girls match. Not because we'll loose but just because they are so tall and its sooooo unfair. hmmmppphhh....

We lost in the end. :(
Celebrating their win by doing crazy underwater acts. :)

After swimming the tummy will definitely go for immediate war. So is food hunting time. Plus a little shopping. We hit the bangla street after dinner and for the guys they cuci mata as they shop while us ladies try our very best not to laugh and offend any one in particular for we still wish to go home in one piece. hahahahaha...If you travel with kids than these is not the place to go. The stuff there are cheap no doubt but the rows and rows of pubs and bar and open shows are definitely not for kids.

We went to watch a 4D show. Cool and fun.

One of the best food you can find there. The banana and nutella wrap in a pratha. So shiok. hehehehe
All borong-ing jerseys...

We had dinner at an Arabian Restaurant. The foos is fantalicious. :)

The next morning my sis and I when to get breakfast for everyone. My sis had been talking about the fried duck and the popyiah that the street shop sells. She said that the food there is nice so I decided to accompany her and taste it for myself. And indeed it was nice. ;)

Our unhealthy Breakfast. :0
I wanted KFC's egg tarts so much so we grab our lunch at the nearest KFC. Hehehehe.... being very unhealthy during holidays and felt real guilty to self after that. Who else did like i did when on holiday??? Eat and don't count the calories and what have you. After all you are on a holiday what right... so diet also on holiday la.

The one thing that we found in the shopping center that got us all to burst into non-stop laughter.  Some even joke and say "eh tak halal la bedak tu" wahahahahahaha....

We were wondering around the hotel at night, when we came across Swensens. On a cold and chilly night, we decided to freeze ourselves even more by having some ice-creams.

We were so fascinated by the glass that they used for the iced water. It was sooo cool. So my cousin shamelessly asked the waitress if he could have one to bring home. So tak tau malu kan. But obviously no matter what kind of charms he used the answer was just a polite smile and a definite NO from the waitress. hahahahhaha...

cool Swensens glass.

It was a wrap for our Phuket trip after that last Ice-cream Supper. We had little sleep that night for we were all trying our very best to put our "a little" shopping buys in our small luggage bags. So by the time we had to leave for home you can see 8 zombies heading towards the airport.

Too sleepy to pose for any more pictures.

I was dead the moment i sat on the plane. hahahaha...siap peluk bantal lagi. Home was the destination.

Just a quick update on my house hunting process. Alhamdulillah we found a unit we like and the budget that we want but the only problem now is to get a few more people to agree to stay with us. Hopefully we can confirm everything by the end of this week. Pray for us ok.

See you at the next entry. You'll be star struck just like i will be. hehehehe... wanna know what is the entry going to be about??? Well stay tune than.... :)

House Hunt

Everyone who ever shifted from one place to another will understand the trouble of doing so. We all know that shifting houses or offices or schools is a very troublesome thing. Its not only the packing and moving out process but also the emotional process as well.

When you had already settled down and made your memories there is kindda hard to move out isn't it? Well that's exactly why i wanted to shift out of the hostel. Because firstly the fees are unreasonable. Secondly the wifi is horrible, terrible, vegetable. Thirdly and the most important reason is because...
We have to shift out every year.

And i find that very exhausting and difficult. To bring all the things that i need here to the hostel already requires me to do a 3 trip. And if i'm staying here in Malaysia i don't mind. But seriously having to go all the way back to Singapore and back again just to shift the things really takes a decade man. Plus i'm not the kind who will go home every weekend or every month. I'll only go home if there's a need to. That includes during school holidays. Weird but true. I've always told myself that when you are there(where ever i'm doing my studies at) make the best of it. Which means explore the country. Bile lagi boleh travel with friends and explore the places kan. Ini la masa nya. :)

So for the past few weeks my friends and i have been doing house hunting. But unfortunately till today our attempts to get a decent and affordable house/apartments for rent is as far unsuccessful. My oh my...i didn't know that finding a house to rent would be this difficult. It is indeed just as emotional as moving out. We are really desperate to get a house. When we see an add we'll get all excited but when we call the agents or owner unfortunately it's not within our budget. :(  It's really a heartbreaking process i tell you.

I really cannot stay in the hostel anymore. Mainly due to the wifi la ar. Things that takes minutes to be done will end up taking hours. Really cannot tahan already. And that's the reason why the next entry about the Phuket trip with my cousins is not up yet. I'm done with the draft just uploading the pictures takes ages so i rather safe my heart from all the anger and wait till i can get a proper wifi to upload it.

I want to shift out asap!!!!! :(

We have to shift out by January next yr. So die die must get a house soon. Hopefully we'll be able to get one that is near UM and within our budget soon. Am really hoping for a miracle.

p/s: If any of you do have a friend or relatives or maybe you yourself would like to rent out your apartment or house that is near to UM. pls do email me can? thx :) ella.purplelicious@gmail.com

Eat Till You Drop

Hello all. How many of you are durian lovers? And how many of you wanna puke just at the smell of it? Well for those who hates durian or just can't stand the smell of it...

YOU ARE MISSING OUT ON LIFE BEST FRUIT EVER!!!!

hahahahaha....okok..i understand some of us here are allergy to durians (got such thing not?) but still i'm a durian lover and this entry is for the durian lovers. Yang tak suke durian jgn marah ye. hehehehe.

I love love love durian. BUT...only the fruit. As in i don't eat anything else that is made from durian. Like durian puff or durian cake or kueh-kueh that have durian in it. Weird but true. My mum used to tell me that when i was younger i would eat (just in my diapers) lots and lots of durian and i would put the durian all over my body.Gross i know. I can't imagine myself doing that. hahahahaha...

Anyway...last week both my roommates and i have been smelling durians. You know the feeling of it-is-close-but-you-cant-taste-it feelings??? We werere like practically searching where the smell came from. The worst part was we could smell it for 2 consecutive days. It was such a torture to our stomach. So we decided to go durian hunting.

We got to know from a fellow Singaporean that there is such thing as durian buffet here in KL. So tunggu ape lagi...serbu ar. ATTACK!!!!

Its located at ss12 @ Petaling Jaya. What is ss12? I don't know too. hahahahahaha...tau naik texi cakap ss12. For even the sign board states there ss12. A RM7 ride from UM to ss12 is definitely worth it.

Here's how the buffet works. You pay either RM15 or RM9 for each person and YOU CAN EAT TILL YOU DROP. Eat as much as you want or in this case as much as u can. Sampai mabuk ke muntah ke pengsan bangun balik ke...up to you. :)

Whats the difference in price you might asked. Well the RM15 is for the D24 durians and the RM9 is for the kampung normal durians. If you were to go in large group like us, than i would advice you to split up. Like for us we went in group of six so three RM15 and three RM9 than you can taste both. In the end just add up and split the amount into six. So each pay about RM12 each. Puas hati kan. The durians there are really really good. But make sure you go with a durian eater hokay. If not waste money only. hehehehe...

Sure anot got this kind of place? Well see it for yourself....

The smell that greeted us upon arrival was insane. Mcm nk terkam terus durian-durian tu. :p

All give up ready. hahahaha...
My hands still smells of durian even after i took a shower. My Lifebuoy soap cannot beat the durian perfume. :)

I shall continue my never ending assignments and shall see you guys in my next entry. In syaa Allah. Take care. Go get some durian in the meanwhile. hehehe...

Ilmu itu mudah, Ilmu itu indah

Salam to everyone. Well i wanted to do this entry in Malay actually but as i was typing the English word emerge by itself. So just bare with me as you will be reading a rojak entry.

I've always been someone who loves to learn new things and i always tell myself not to say no to knowledge.  Especially when it came knocking on my door. :) On last Tuesday a friend of mine asked if i would like to join the course that will be held by her hostel on Cara Sembelihan Halal Menurut Syara & Cara Pengurusan Jenazah Islam. Mane boleh dapat course penyembelihan (together with practical) in Singapore. Course urus jenazah memang ade la at Singapore tapi tak pernah ikot pun. Why? Simply because usually only the makcik-makcik and the pakcik-pakcik will take part. Until recently Syabab SG organized one for teens.

So on a Saturday morning, woke up bright and early to attend the course which starts at 8am. We started of with the penyembelihan first. It was conducted by Ustaz Halim Zakaria. He made it to be such an interesting theory lesson of the penyembelihan. At first i was afraid i would feel sleepy for it was an early morning to be seating in an aircon room listening to lectures. hehehehe... but i wasn't bored or sleepy at all.

Shall share with you some of the things that we learned from Ustaz.

Rukun Menyembelih
-Orang menyambelih
-Binatnag sembelihan
-Alat menyembelih
-Bahagian / tempat disembelih

Both the Trachea (saluran penafasan/urat halkum) and the Oesophagus (saluran makanan/urat mari') have to be cut of in order for the meat to be halal.

Jangan beli.

Ustaz also thought us the way to clean and cut the chicken. Ok i have to admit it was my first time doing it. So bile kene sembelih and siang sendiri ayam tu macam geli pun ade. Sembelih ok je...part nak siang tu. Or they call it melepah here. Tapi tak apa...ni pengalaman. So i did it ok.

Kat rumah siang ikan pun tak ni masuk Uni terus kene siang ayam. Padan muka kan. hahahahaha..
Sembelih da pass, melepah pun da pass now tinggal satu lagi....belajar MEMASAK. Yang tu tak tau bile nak pass. :p

Ok the pictures below are not for those who are afraid of blood or feel gross looking at animals being slaughtered ok. So look only if you can take the grossness of the pictures. See at your own risk. :)

The ayam that i sembelih
Ayam ni urat mari' tak terputus so tak boleh makan. Haram.

Kedua-dua urat terputus maka ia halal untuk dimakan.
Nampak Ustaz buat macam senang. Bile kene buat sendiri terkial-kial.

Next we attended the Pengurusan Jenazah Islam held by Jabatan Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (JAWI)

All this while i thought that the male can only do for the male and the female only for the female. Even if it's their family members. Unfortunately i was wrong. See if i have not gone for the class i would have never know about it.

If the woman/man pass away the husband/wife, son/daughter, father, mother or her other siblings can do it for the decease.

There's a lot of things that i learn from the two short courses that i follow today. Too many info for me to put all in one entry. So my advice to you would be...if ever you have the chance to join the courses do join them for you never know when you might need this knowledge. Even if you feel like, ni kan fardhu kifayah kalau da ade orang buat so aku tak wajib ape... but tell yourself there's nothing wrong in getting extra knowledge.

The one sentence from Ustaz that really hit me was...
"Adakah kau yakin ketika mati nanti warismu ada disekeliling?"
So do take up the chance to learn and explore new things when ever you have the opportunity to do so.

Here are some pictures during the practical of the pengurusan jenazah

First we cut the a thin strip from the cloth to be made as ropes to tie the cloth together as well as a form of measurement for the height of the decease.
Measure the decease using the strip. Tie the end of it. Cut it off after extending about 2 rounds around the forearm.
Prepare the cloth. Cut 2 pieces according to the length of the decease and another 2 pieces according to the extended length.

The cloth all cut and ready.

After putting on the 'kain' and the 'baju', lastly we put on the 'tudung' (head scarf)

Lastly we tie the head part.

Just a friendly reminder including for myself....

"Lihatlah kepada diri sendiri segala perubahan yang ada menunjukkan malaikat maut telah hampir dengan kita"
"Yang jauh dengan kita adalah masa, yang dekat dengan kita adalah maut"

Always remember my dearies...never stop seeking for knowledge. For the more you learn the more you'll realize that there's many things that you don't know about.

ILMU ITU MUDAH, ILMU ITU INDAH.

wa Allahu a'lam.

The end of my rojak entry. Hope it benefits you in someway or another. I apologize for any typo error ok. Till the next entry...

Lots of Love
